Out and About

Great Dixter House & Gardens is a ten minute drive away, while also nearby are the the Medieval Moated Bodium Castle and the The Kent & East Sussex Steam Railway.

The ancient Cinque Port of Rye with its cobbled streets and the attractive market towns of Battle and Tenterden all boast a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants and are within a short drive.

Scotney Castle, Bateman’s, Sissinghurst and Smallhythe Place National Trust properties, Battle Abbey and the 1066 Battlefield, Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest and the RSPB Nature Reserve at Dungeness are 30-45 minute drive away.

Camber [12.5 miles] boasts a fine sandy beach, while Hastings [11.5 miles] is a traditional English seaside town steeped in history. 

 

The Sussex Coastline, Saxon Shoreway and 1066 Country Walks are close by; indeed the whole area is popular walking and cycling country.

Eastbourne, Royal Tunbridge Wells and the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet at Ashford are within an hour’s drive.  Further afield, Dover, Brighton and Canterbury are within 75 minutes drive.

 

London is around 80 minutes by train from Robertsbridge station and around 85 minutes from Rye station; both stations are about 7.5 miles from Mill Corner.

 

For those wanting a day trip to France, the Eurotunnel Terminal is 36 miles and Dover Docks 46 miles away.
